De Rossi tops Ancelotti's wishlist.

With HHHooray writing an amaazing piece about a rumoured departure in Ricardo Carvalho, i decided to write about a rumoured arrival.

A report in an Italian newspaper states that Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti has put Roma defensive midfielder Daniele de Rossi at the top of the list of players the Italian tactician looks to bring to Stamford Bridge. Il Romanista claims that Ancelotti prefers De Rossi over A.C. Milan midfielder Andrea Pirlo, a player who Ancelotti coached for many seasons at the San Siro.

Roma chief Bruno Conti moved swiftly to quell any rumours that a De Rossi deal was finalising. He had already rejected a €46 million bid from free-spending Real Madrid. Conti was quoted as saying, "De Rossi isn't worth €46 million, he's worth much, much more." Therefore, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich would have to table a near irresistible bid for the Italian midfield enforcer.

De Rossi is not the only Serie A star linked with the West London outfit. Inter's right-back Maicon is also on Ancelotti's wishlist, with current right-back Bosingwa catching the eye of German giant Bayern Munich. Also, A.C. Milan Wonderkid Alexandre Pato is also at the top of Ancelotti's wishlist.

  1. As much as I'd like to have De Rossi, he'd either: A) Not receive enough playing time or B) Cut down on the playing time of our other central midfielders (Ballack, Lampard, Essien, Mikel.) Running Essien as a defensive midfielder with Mikel used in a semi-rotation role is perfect. Lampard and Ballack are aging but those two are still more than capable of performing at the top level still.

  2. Couldn't agree with PitchPosh more.

  3. PitchPosh you are right about De Rossi. However Ancelotti was known for his Christmas Tree formation at Milan the 4-3-2-1. If implanted the 3 central midfielders would be Lampard left, De Rossi centre, and Essien right. Mikel only played for half of last season due to Essien's crucial injury, and Ballack came in and out of form last year.
However in my view you are wrong with your choice of rumour. De Rossi is a very physical player. Ancelotti has previously highlighted that Chelsea are a good team but need a few TECHNICAL players in the centre of the park. He highlighted that Chelsea needed Alonso and Ribery. Look at our team we have Essien, one of the toughest centre mids in the world. We also have Ballack a german beast, and Mikel a tempered youngster, these are all physical players not technical.
You should be referring to players such as Alonso, Sneijder and Ribery as targets. Please reply with your thoughts

  4. Sorry when i'm referring to the mistake in the transfer targets that is aimed at BBLBDB.

  5. Sneijder sounds like a good target. Ribery's main target is Real, and he doesn't look like he is changing his stance on that anytime soon. Alonso, He is a central midfielder, and we have central mids in bunches @ chelsea.

Also note that ancelotti was also rumoured to bring andrea pirlo after berlusconi decided to listen to offers because of his astronomical wages. De Rossi was younger, and had room for improvement. I could see how this rumour is remotely concrete.

Im not for this transfer, cause it makes no good sense, it was just a rumour that i used to gauge reaction, thats all it was.

  6. Dan spot on the problem, however i have to say that what makes Chelsea so strong is our defensive physical play, and for that we should not have technical CDM or CM, leave essien and mikel where they belong, they are the fortress to be conquered. Moreover what we need are very technical wings (like Ribery, Ronaldo, Riera, Messi and even Rooney in second half of the season) with creativity, ike Malouda was for last 2 and half months, but thats on the left what about the right???? Kalou doesnt make it, J Cole is permanently injured and lacks the creativity and...........thats it, we dont have anyone else!

My bottom line is, we dont need De Rossi and definetely not for that price (i d take him for....12 mil just as back up 8), dont break up whats perfectly working.

  7. Maicon--Awsome, only if matches the price we ll get for Boswinga or less and BEFORE we sell Bos, so we are not left without RB (although we definetely dont need him, Bos is solid)

  8. I wish we could get our hands on the likes of Alan Dzagoev instead. He's another Russian who's also from CSKA Moscow. An attack minded midfielder with great passing ability, vision and shooting. The best part is he's only 19!

The video is fairly poor quality, but you'll get the picture. In 2008 he made 24 appearances for CSKA (League and Europe) bagging 11 goals and 9 assists. In 2009 he made 12 appearances (league and Europe) bagging 3 goals and 3 assists. Not too shabby for a 19 year old :)

  10. Wow.. he looks like he could be good @ chelsea..Sign him up!

  11. Pitch where r from?

I know well Dzagoev, very promising lad. Already has couple of international caps, and moreover played wonderfully against germany in WC qualifier, being on th ebrink of scoring. Although I agree, great vision passing ability and wicked shot for a small player, but again he is a direct footballer much like Lamps, Gerr, or Ballack.

    I d opt for some spanish/brazilian dribblers.

  12. P.S. look closely in the video, who is the guy passing to Dzagoev all the time?? Familiar face? 8))

  13. Yeh this Dzagoev looks quite a decent player with promising vision and creativity. However i hearda transfer target may be the German forward Dzeko from Wolfsburg. Very good goalscorer got 23 in 26 games last season.... apparently is worth 20 mill... here's a vid. is he worth it?

  14. Seems to me as a one season wonder, after watching the video seems that he mainly scores headers, and EPL is the hardest to do so. Frankly I wouldnt be happy if we sign him.

Now I would rather prefer argentian Ezequiel Lavezzi (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lIY6z3iHQKw) and I think he d cost the same. The only problem is gonna be the work permit. 8(

  15. another video of him (this time from Arhentian league, not Serie A like previous)

  16. Lavezzi was linked to Chelsea in January, but Napoli refused to sell him.

  17. I'm from the US, Florida in particular. It's hard for me to say Dzagoev is a once season wonder because of his age. I mean, he can really only get better with the more international caps and club caps he gets. If he were to come to Chelsea he'd develop that much faster with the likes of Lampard (one of his favorite players) and Ballack "tutoring" him. Lavezzi is a great young prospect too, no doubt.

  18. No, Dzeko is a one season wonder 8)))

  19. Oh, sorry for misreading that! :P I agree with you on that one, though.
